The current site of Sham Shui Po Park was formerly part of the Sham Shui Po Military Camp built in 1927. Hong Kong was a prisoner-of-war concentration camp during the Japanese Occupation. It was converted into a park in 1983. The boundary stones of the military camp are still preserved in the park.
