The Methodist Church of Hong Kong is one of the major Christian denominations in Hong Kong. In addition to missions, it also provides school education and social services. In 1975, the Hong Kong Methodist Church and the Hong Kong Methodist Church were united by two churches that were originally from the same ancestry. It is the vision and ideal of the United Church to combine missions and pastoral care, school education and social services. The Hong Kong Methodist Church is a sect developed from the former Methodist Diocese of South China, and is directly under the British Methodist Overseas Mission Association; the Hong Kong Methodist Church was established in Hong Kong in the 1950s by the American Methodist Church.
